Sarracenia oreophila is a carnivorous perennial plant native to the United States.
Natural populations are now very rare and may soon disappear. This species is currently only found in mountainous areas of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
It thrives in ponds, swamps and damp woods and is remarkably cold hardy.
The urns can be 20 to 75 cm long and 6 to 10 cm in circumference at the mouth. They are generally green with slight red veins, but some plants are very richly coloured and veined.
From April to June, the plant forms a solitary green to yellow-green flower on a stem 45 to 70 cm long.

Light and location: Sarracenia oreophila need full sun to develop properly. They must therefore be placed outdoors.
Temperatures: These are very hardy plants (-20°C). They can be kept in large pots (minimum 3 litres) or preferably in a peat bog.
Watering: Rainwater. It is important to keep the substrate constantly soaking, with the pot bathed in a few centimetres of water.
Substrate: Mixture for carnivorous plants composed of 70-90% white peat with approximately 10% perlite. Ideally, the plant should be placed in a peat bog or in a large, constantly moist pot (minimum 3 L).
